Well, i wouldn't call it a real blast as this is the only one out of these 4 cars that's not mine. The 6 in line 3 liter turbocharged engine is a jewel, 340 hp and a lot of torque give it wings, bear in mind this car weighs probably over 1500 kilos. Driving it fairly rapid one quickly appreciates the well sorted M-suspensio, i left all the 'systems' on after i noticed that yellow light on the dash kept flashing even in third gear

.
The 6 speed manual is great but not as good as the one in the clio RS, shifting gear feels like ... well .. like you're shifting gear in a BMW

.

So it started this morning when i took all the 'junk' out for a good wash. Obviously when you have a wet car you must dry it by driving it as fast as you can ;-) !

Despite the 340 hp of the 1M, the 205's 85 hp never give you the feeling you're missing something. Would i choose the 205 ? Maybe, if i felt like i could drive it every day. It just doesn't feel solid enough to risk breaking it or risking my own life in modern traffic in a country where it rains one day out of two.
The blue Beemer is as many of you guys already know my daily 120 diesel. No lack of power and torque with 190 hp and 400 Nm but you have to be a bit patient before it comes alive ... but when it comes alive it actually is faster than ....

... the Clio.
The RS weighing 220 kilos less and boosting 11 hp more than the 120d is still the real deal in real life. Not overly fast so pretty maniable, but that normally aspirated 2 liter likes to rev till 7500 rpm and even beyond if you delete the rev limiter.
I managed to get the air out of one of the tires while doing some burnouts hitting the limiter in second gear ( i need to get rid of the 2 shitty Vredestein front tires i shouldn't have mounted in the first place).

Out of the 4 cars i think the Clio is also the one to take to the race track. Yes, the 1M will be faster but it will cost you some serious bucks as it will be rougher on the brakes and tyres and i seriously doubt you will have that much more fun.

So which one do you vote for ?
1. BMW 1M - 340 hp / 500 Nm - 3 litre 6 pot twin turbo - RWD - 6 speed manual - 1500 kilo
2. Peugeot 205 XS - 85 hp / 120 Nm - 1,4 litre 4 pot twin choke carburettor - FWD - 5 speed manual - 810 kilo
3. BMW 120d - 190 hp / 400 Nm - 2 litre turbodiesel - RWD - 8 speed ZF automatic - 1460 kilo
4. Renaultsport (Alpine) Clio RS - 201 hp / 215 Nm - 2 litre NA petrol - FWD - 6 speed manual - 1240 kilo
Or would you guys wait for number 5 ?
;-)
