I used to collect Matchbox little cars when I was very young. That was about more than sixty years ago.
I only keep a couple of cars from that era of the last years of 1950´s and beginnings of the 1960`s: A Type E Jaguar and a 3,8 four door Jag. You know, I have a sweet spot for Jags since I was a boy.
Now I keep a nice collection of James Bond`s Aston Martins DB5 in different scales and toy brands. Guess I got about 20/25 of them. Some still in their original unopened boxes.
I`ve been buying dozens and dozens of little cars for my grandchildren in the last say ten or twelve years and I keep buying more on each trip abroad. Some are still in a big box waiting to be gifted to them.
Sometimes I feel like starting a scale model collection but I refrain from this idea because I know myself and I`m sure it will became another obsession as it happens with my watches, fountain pens and other objects I tend to collect.
Anyway when I view a collection like yours... the idea keeps haunting me again!.
I see many Citroen among your little cars. It`s a brand I like so much. Of course many Michelin related cars as well.
I will post a few shots of my Aston/Bond collection below.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful collection dear Mike!
Best, Abel
These two are the only two Matchbox models remaining from my childhood collection. The should be from around 1963/64 I guess.
