It seems restomods are about as popular in the automotive sphere as independents in watchmaking, even if the concept is a tad different.

Here a recent one that might be right up Nico’s alley, since it is based around the Volvo P1800ES, the famous ‘Snow white casket’.
There are three levels of modification, with the highest using a Volvo 5 cylinder turbocharged petrol (at probably around 350bhp).
Looking a tad pumped up but at least it adds a bit of variety to the scene.

My main use of ChatGPT these days is to sense check different options for bringing up older machinery up to speed to be used for one or the other future road trip. Sadly the builds all end up a lot more expensive than taking something stock and newer 🤷🏻♂️

Amazing !! I love it, that’s always been one of my favorite cars ever; the original, of course. Now, regarding the restomod, I don’t like the wheels nor the exaggerated flares around the wheel wells.

Only the top level gets the flared wheel arches and these wheels of I understood correctly 😊👍🏻
The first one looks like a lean mean racing green machine.
I like a lot of these so called restomods well everything except for the price that is.

Technically one can find a story justifying the prices but they would probably be more popular and enrich the automotive landscape a lot more if the costs were a tad lower 😊👍🏻
The pricing seems to be based on the premise that they need to be profitable from the first example onwards 🤷🏻♂️

No thanks, no more BMW for me ... ever !
Don't get me wrong, I do love BMW but there are always these tiny details that bother me.
Their infotainment system is a big NO for me and the non M-models have too many flaws for such expensive cars.
Nothing beats a good old Renault or Renaultsport, cheap and at least as reliable as any BMW.
As I am typing this I am standing on the side of the road with a flat tire .... there is a compressor in the trunk but no foam-stuff to fill up the tire so I can continue my journey.
I called BMW service and help is on the way, maximum one hour ..... if there would have been a F****g spare wheel (or the damn foam) in the trunk I'd already have been on my way !
