The last remaining fleet of SAAB's are being sold off in a historic liquidation. The sale consists of 8 cars and the auction period has now begun and will be completed May 30 at a special event in Trollhättan factory. It is possible to attend via the web. All cars are sold with no reserve price and starting price is SEK 0. Cheers. Pelle
A great opportunity for some reminiscing. My first job after school and military service was at Saab. Togheter with a senior technician we worked on cars that needed manual adjustments. For example police cars and taxis. But also for VIP's who wanted extra accessories. One of them was Björn Borg who got a Saab 99 Turbo with everything on it as a sponsor for Saab. I could no afford a Turbo myself but was proud as a rooster for my 99 EMS! While on Björn I want to mention that they are having an auction this week at Kaplans in Stockholm were his Sjöö Sandström watch is up for sale. He got it 2003 when he participated in a pro/am tennis tournament. The year 2003 is an important year for him - it is the year his boy Leo Borg was born.I know we should be caustious with money here at WPS but hopefully it is ok to mention that the watch started on aprox 2000 euro and the bidding has now reached 5000. The deadline is on Saturday.
It has been discussed a lot why things went wrong with Saab

Most experts agree that GM was about the worst owner Saab could get. On the other hand a lot of Swedes was skeptical when Geelay (China) bought Volvo. However they knew how to get the best out for themselves as a smart investment and at the same time support Volvo in its development. I have never own a Volvo and I never will but must say that I am impressed with what they are achiving in a very very competetive market
Looking back many years one thing (among many) that Volvo did right was focusing on Estate Cars. (One reason is that Sweden is the country were most people vs population has a summer house) Volvo was ahead of their main competitors such as BMW, MB & Audi in this segment and for this they made a good profit. Early this week I heard and interview with Volvo CEO and he among other things said SUV cars are peaking now. We are on our way back to Estate Cars. This made me think of the expression "Its not about sounding right now, its about being right in the long run". Will be interesting to see if he is right
