A friend's project bike begins....

...engine internals - gearbox, crank - so the engine can be manoeuvred easily in the frame for the dry builds.
Work temporarily stopped as we're trying to get out hands on the tool to remove the generator. Also uncovered some damage, so shiny new straight-cut primary gears to come....

This is a old and oily 600cc Ducati Pantah engine from a donor bike that is being turned into a replica of a Ducati TT2.
My friend purchased a TT2 frame kit some time back, work has finally begun....I'll be documenting the project as it progresses...
..early days.
Right now we're working out packaging and sourcing of bits and will do dry builds of the bike to get everything positioned ok. Have to make some templates to get the front-end set up properly, then we can address the rear swingarm droop angle...which will the a correct shock to be found. Also looking at how faithful we want to make it. Total loss ignition - which means bump-starts. Or will we keep the starter, which means the strange (and slightly dangerous) battery position.
Then an engine rebuild. Only new primary gears and piston rings, so far.
Then some fiddling with pipes to get a 2 into 1 system.
Then the frame to be painted.
Then another dry build.
Then all together and a nice light track bike....
