The kind of very dangerous picture which would make me plunge:



Elegance at its best!

Enjoy this picture I found on the net, but which I am not able to credit, sadly.

Ok, I will tell you all... I am considering getting one Volvo P 1800.

I did my homework, and it seems that both the S and the E ( SU Carburators / Electronic Injection ) are reliable.

The Injection ( E ) is a bit more powerful ( 120 HP ) while the Carburators are somewhere between 909 and 105 HP.

Insurance and service costs are human.

Getting a very nice one is somewhere around 15 K Euros.

I didn't try one, yet, and a lot of people told me that I would be bored very quickly with such a car.

I am not after a muscle car, I don't have the means to go for a De Tomaso Mangusta ( I treid one, by the way... Fantastic ) or a Ferrari, even a nice Porsche 911.

So, what do you tjink? Would I be that bored with such a car?

and you say that you don't need a muscle car...you will need good biceps for parking though, I don't think these cars came with "direction assistee". Hope you have good weather during your holidays, Italy? is it?

I think you will enjoy a car like this as it also dictates your limits by suspension, brakes etc. So you will have still quite some "driving" sensations.
The only thing I would be bothered with is having it in the centre of Paris. It will take you each time a drive to be able to really enjoy the car without having to bother about the risks of dents and scratches.
So I think: yes you would enjoy but if parked at your 2nd home or just outside of Paris...

I thought about thayt, and will keep my Audi A 5. This Volvo would be my 2d car.

Not for a daily use, but for week ends and holidays only.

I get to push my cars at the limit everyday , doing my daily 420 kms of german autobahn and trying to do them at about 200 average ..and i enjoy cruising windows down on the week end.

Not in France, as it is too risky for my driving license, but in Italy, for example.

Especially when I have a long road to do.

But you're right, driving in a vintage car is another way to travel, a way which pleases me a lot.

And it would give me some good opportunities to have some elegant week ends.

Turning one's own dreams in reality is important. And God knows that I have this " coupé b" for a very long time in my mind!

Do you know what reputation he has?

I have targetted a few in France, and some in Holland.

It seems that registering this kind of car is not a problem, even if I don't know how to proceed.
