We associate tailfins with American cars of the 1950's and early 1960's. The inspiration was apparently jet planes that emerged at the time and of course the interest in science fiction and futurism.
I know nothing about this car, but it certainly caught my eye. And we have seen some great American designs in recent posts. I assume it is based on a Cadillac, but hopefully you can enlighten me. Do we want to see fins reappear?

... can't imagine this being possible on new cars ... unfortunately :-( ... ...............and it's ready for the remake of Christine.
Jokes apart, that's a very nice car, I like it that low.
Thanks for sharing.

. This is Disney World and some of the farms which gave the USA the baby boomers generation!
:Well picked. And your reward are some additional photos, Chaser.
The Packard Clipper was introduced in 1941 but the war interrupted production until 1946. The car is powered by a 5830cc straight 8 cylinder engine producing 125bhp. The design of this 1947 Clipper has been described as an ‘upside down bathtub’ although it is rather handsome in the coupe format.

... it is good to know what I was looking at.
And it is interesting to see how the fins softened in the 1970's.
