5905 R
What do you guys think is the chance of Patek coming up with a rose gold version of the 5905? I love how the 5960R looks but I'm looking to purchase something new and current. Should I wait for a 5905R or just get the 5905P. I think it would look fantastic black dial with a brown strap. Looks more classic in my opinion, but somehow my heart is more towards rose gold watches.
Nice problem to have
Personally, I would go for the 5905p. If a RG version emerges, do not assume that it will have the same colour dial as the P. Also, "P"s are generally rarer and (and this is a very personal view) I think 42mm of RG is rather too much whilst in P it makes enough of a statement without "shouting".
i suggest for you just go for the 5960p
If you are fortunate enough to get the 5905p then i suggest you get the 5960p black dial because well, it's an icon. It is Patek's first self-winding in-house chronograph and they throwed in an annual calendar just for an extra complication. And finally, i heard a rumour that the black dial 5960p was only produced 50 times.
If you look 100 years back,
you will notice that RG comes and goes again. It's either fashionable or out of fashion. White metal is always actual and platinum is in many ways #1 metal for watch cases.

Very difficult to guess as you imagine

Today we have the 5205R: it exists with an Opaline white or a black dial. I mention it as, except the Chronograph, it is a very close offer to the 5960R for instance.
The 5960R was gorgeous and very attractive, technically speaking so as aesthetically:
Now that the 5905P was released it is hard to say if they will add a black dial with RG soon (or ever). The 5905 is very different but the 5960 is a fantastic watch. I think it remains recent and you should not consider it as a "non actual" one.
However, I think you should really ask yourself what your really want,as the 5905P looks completly different (gold color, size, pushers, etc...) and you mention that you have a soft spot for RG.
Anyway, I don't think you would go wrong with any of them.
