5960P vs 5905P the blue dial battle.
Had the chance to compare these two blue dialed watches ,That I have been trying to choose between for along time.It was the first time to see the 5905P in metal.
And What a watch!!!!! ,The weight of the watch,the wrist presence and finally the proportions of the case (its a bigger diameter but nicer proportions).
Would like to hear your comments.........

Easy my friend!
First get 5960/1A and wear it with leather strap. Then get 5905P and spend many sleepless nights thinking "black or blue"...
At least that's what I did.

Do you feel 5960/1A 's lug holes are positioned differently from its P metal siblings (closer to the lug end)? The gap between the strap and case looks wider to me. But it is just my subjective feeling. Best,

I've been quickly in touch with the Patek Philippe 5905P before summer and It looked very nice to me.
As you did, I appreciated the proportions and the 5905 is very much in todays standards line.

I particularly enjoy having these pushers but the main element I adore in this new reference is the dial decoration: the 2 thin silvery rings with their 5-minutes applied markers and the 3 Annual Calendar's windows. I find this layout very elegant and very well balanced.
Maybe they could have made the subsidiary dial white printings a little thinner. Yet I prefer this subdial to the 5960's.
Finally the little grooves made in the lugs' side is another detail I like very much (so as in the 5227 or 5205 for instance)
So this is what make for me a slight preference for the 5905P.
However, the 5960 is now iconic because of the round pushers and the little more old school decoration.
Thanks a lot for sharing your pictures, it is not often we have the opportunity to see them side by side.
Are you considering one of these after your Aquanaut?

the article Fx wrote a while ago on the forum and that what made me start to consider the watch,Actually I read every single article or post written on the PP forum,I spend more time reading than posting as I am new compared to most of the members so I need to educate myself.
I was considering the 5960A with a leather strap as Kari said,But I couldn't live with the notch on the case between the lugs used to fix the metal bracelet and the bracelet look is very shiny for my taste.
So back to considering one of these two either 5960P or 5905P,I was lucky enough to see a 5960R with grey dial at the same visit...tried it on but I just can't see myself wearing it as I am not a colored metal fan.
Conclusion after the visit that I love both the 5960P and 5905P but don't see a reason for buying both as they are very close in terms of use,movement,complications and share the same colors.I had my name on the list since last June for the 5905P blue dial.
Before l left London I had a call from the salon telling me that they have received 5905P black dial as well ,So I went to have a look And wish I had never did

I am going to be in that state for long as they told me the watch is not going to be ready before next June.I think the 42mm in this comparison wins,The push buttons looks much nicer in my opinion (they polished the pusher's sides but in the same time fitted in a way that it will not touch the case when using them).It just needs a buckle to balance the hefty weight of the case.

and I think you have pretty much wise thoughts about these watches.
The best piece of advice I could give is to take a little time to ask yourself how you would feel with this watch on the wrist during the day.

IMHO you can't get wrong with

There were so many wise thoughts shared on this forum (especially FX made an fantastic review) that it only remains for me to express my personal taste and feelings.
Personally I like the bigger case, the rectangular pushers and the quite and discrete charm of the dial of the 5905P a little bit more. Even if this new model has less functions than its predecessor...
I'm afraid it will not really help you when I say that I would go for the black dial with its blackened calendar-indicating windows....

notch on the case?I have never seen a steel piece with a leather strap,But I believe it gonna be annoying every time I look to the watch,specially its unpolished I heard.
Anyone owns it?or even tried it?

Since it's release…….
The 5960P was a firm favourite of mine, especially in its original guise.
Now, I believe that it has competition, for my attention, in the way of the 5905P
Personally, I prefer the rectangular pushers over the rounds one, which I always believe to be an easy part of the watch to catch.

I'm not a big fan of AC and like QP much more.
The only AC I have is 5960/1A which I bought thinking about the white details in the dashboard of my Porsche Targa 4 GTS. But today I paid the downpayment for a Bentley Bentayga. Most probably I will not buy a Breitling so perhaps 5905P could be the answer...

I must say I also have a great appeal for a Perpetual Calendar, even it the AC is finally very interesting, at a more affordable price point.

Nobody knows the delivery time...
"Money first" is the name of the game. Then the final factory order is placed and the production place is given. Preliminary Q2 2016.
Why do you say that it's an interesting choice? I think that's about the most logical family car. I need a SUV to visit Lapland with the family (lots of snow) and Bentayga has more space than Cayanne. Also 600 hp makes me to smile...
These northern conditions require something special from a car. I did not, i.e. take a Carrera Cabriolet because of snow on the roof but Targa. And all Targas are 4 wheel drives.

Well, this is a new model from a brand I would not have thought about when dealing with such type. However, I think the quality of the interior will be top notch.
So quality, finishing of the interior and highly luxurious brand not used to proposing SUVs make an interesting choice to me.

But 600 hp, 900 nm, 4.1 sec from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 301 km/h makes it faster than Belarus tractor. Finally, it's costing very well equipped the same as 5370P...

This is an alternative solution for a 5960/1 with strap
Some straps don't stop between the lugs but reach and are applied against the case, like in the picture below.
I know leather straps can be made that way (I don't know their name). Hence, it will hide the notch.
