Patek Philippe

Having registered with my AD 7 years ago in early 2009 for a 5131G, yesterday the wait was finally over and I got to own and wear my first PP. A gorgeous 5131R.
AD has been fabulous, kept me in the loop every 6 months or so and invited me to many PP events over the years. Yesterday they flew me and my wife to Geneva for a wonderful handover experience at the Salon, out to lunch and a guided tour of the museum. What a way to start the ownership experience! I can't praise the AD high enough, I know it is not policy to mention AD's but if anyone would like a UK AD recommendation then send me a PM.
I will post some pictures once I have downloaded from my camera.

Many thanks. Poor quality first photo, but the memory of being sat in a wonderful restaurant overlooking the lake wearing the WT for the first time - I do kind of like it!

Edit - I can't see the uploaded photo so guess I will try agin with some proper pics from my camera. Any hints on uploading image from iPhone?

Huge congratulations, this is a fantastic piece and I'm sure you'll spend a long time admiring its dial work.

The purchasing experience from Patek is from my experience and people I know the best among traditional watchmaking brands.

Wear it in the best of health and yes we'd love to see more pictures!

7 years ago after the release of the 5131G I visited 2 London AD's from whom I had bought several high end watches (not Patek) and was told there was no chance of getting on the list - basically I was not an important enough customer and would need to buy a number of Pateks to be considered. I even posted on this forum asking for suggestions for European Patek dealers that might be worth contacting - not surprisingly no suggestions.

Finally having looked at the list of UK Patek dealers I actually discovered an AD 30 miles from home. Contacted them and was told they had one person ahead of me on their list but that they WOULD register my interest with Patek and this despite never having purchased from them. They are a 6th generation family owned business and believe in dealing with local clients who will actually wear the pieces. Sure enough within hours I received an email from Patek to say my interest had been registered.
When the guy ahead of me received his watch I was even invited to pop by and have a look at the watch (5131J).
I received assurance that I was next on the list and it was only a matter of time assuming that they received an allocation from Patek - no one would be put ahead of me. They were true to their word.

So you can guess that my next watch purchase will be from this AD, the last 7 years have been spent on my other passion of cars but I do already have plans to expand my wife's collection with another Patek - they are now working on making this happen.

Pretty sure I know who this AD is and they are very good and always have interesting pieces and time for customers (or prospective customers).

Hi Ralph, following your posts, I am interested if you could tell me which is a good AD in the UK for Patek, my experiences so far have been less then average, glad your enjoying the 5131R , I love the world time , amazing piece , I can be mailed on esunna at hot mail dot com

Does someone on this forum know if Patek shall  be changing the cities ring dial to conform to the current timezone on this reference ?   Wow a 7 years wait, seems like an eternity. 

Having not realised quite what you were referring to and now after a quick Google search I am left slightly mystified. I am sure it is common knowledge (just not to me) that in 2011 Moscow time was changed to be permanently GMT +4 and the 5130 and 5131 time zones were changed to reflect this (not sure when the change occurred) and then a further change was made in July 2014 to permanently move Moscow time to GMT +3 which now means the current time zone indication on 5130 and 5131 is incorrect.
The odd thing to me is that a new model introduced in 2015 (5131R) continued with the old out of date time zones when it had been changed a full 7 months earlier to GMT +3. Presumably to keep all the 5130 and 5131 range the same although I doubt that will continue when/if the revised World Times are announced.
Perhaps the 5131R will change as well? I guess all will be revealed soon.

puts the case diameter of the photo at 355mm so approx. 900% enlargement.

but here it is another world. Amazing wrok from the brand's 3 artists in charge of such craftmanship.
