Someone might know and someone not what do those letters on the Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin exactly mean.
Ok, I'll tell you. They say the month and the year (MM/YY) of production, but do we have the "Rosetta stone" to decode? And until when they used such a kind of code?

I visited last week Rome and I got a present from an Italian friend:
A study of the Patek 'Philippe ref. 3700 "Nautilus" by mstanga
That was a most welcomed present because a short time ago I managed to acquire a full and complete 3700-001. Just now I am wondering if I should get 3700-011. That watch is nearly complete but the cork box is missing. But I have an extra box.
What's your opinion?

P=0
a=1
t=2
e=3
k=4
h=5
r=6
o=7
n=8
s=9
For example: POPR=0706 -> Production month is July 2006.
The practice of putting this four letter code on the
certificates was discontinued around June 2008.

I didn't remember the code and think that it is a kind of information that everyone will appreciate knowing when buying older references.
I hope we can still get the year after 2008 by asking Patek. It is always nice to know when it was build, for servicing reasons but also when getting it for a special occasion (anniversary etc...).
