Patek Philippe

Not much discussion here on this piece.  Any feedback on it? Lugs look very nice.  Dial is very cool.  Limited to 300 pc.  Very low compared to recent limited editions. 

I like the design, and that it's a LE for the Patek event in NY. AD has a list of interested parties. Hopefully might get a call. I heard that AD's have already received a confirmation of their allocation the past week. It's now up to the AD's to decide who they choose.

I saw it at the exhibition. It is a very nice piece.

But can see it has somewhat more limited appeal than world map as owner likely want to have e some association to NYC as the dial is quite specific. With regards to premium worth I do not know what to say, possibly but only you can decide what you think it is worth to you.

Yes, I agree with your thoughts on this. I, too, am a believer in purchasing watches for one's interest and pursuit. Being a Patek "collector"... I am confident that my collection will be looked after either by my heir or another collector, if sold....in the future. And to know that Patek will be there for them in the future. Collecting and buying a Patek watch is generational. Anyone buying the watches for a quick profit, in my opinion, are not welcome and should find better use for their money in other investments

I think it will be quite personal, a different approach for everyone.

I've never purchased a watch based on potential appreciation, and have never sold a piece. I have always purchased what I love.
I really like it a lot and my thought process isn't really is it going to be worth more (a big plus) but rather will it be selling for 15-20-25 percent LESS than retail at some point.

We always like to know what the risks are when dealing with higher budgets. I hope you can get one if it appeals to you!

Without crossing the line, generally I would think that any Patek Limited Edition, after being worn, would eventually trade no less than a regular reference in terms of percentage of retail price.

They are after all, different. In this instance, the NY dial is especially selected to commemorate the event.

I like the piece a lot. I love the WG blue dial combo, love the case, like the size. I did attend the NYC exhibition and saw it there. It's a beautiful piece.
My dilemma is that I'd like to get a 5930 since I'm really a chrono guy. If I get a NYC world time that plus the 5930 would make 4. I'm not sure if I really want 4 world timers.

Just put my name in for one, should have it within a month or less $53K+. I too love NYC but am unsure of how the dial will affect value. I tend to think with my desires and my pocketbook. Don't we all want to feel our choice was a good one on both fronts? Even avid collectors of which I am one? I don't sell watches, it takes the pleasure out of my passion but making the correct financial choice would also make you a better collector, or am I wrong? I looked up the Mecca version and it seems to have appreciated a lot but of course that is a different part of the world and there were only 150 pieces for I presume a much smaller market than the USA. If anyone has seen any after market pricing on the 5230G-0101 please share. I am pretty new to this forum and appreciate all the involvement for others. The 5230 NYC edition will only be 300 pieces if I remember correctly. Which will make them normally go up in price. As like the 5575 which was made in 1500 pieces has increased in price. I never buy watches in the gray market so i don't really know what the really sell for. You should always buy watches the you love and will like to wear and if they increase in price a big bonus (as long as you don't sell them does it really matter ). Good choice buy the way i would have bought one if i could, but as i live in Europe no chance.

I don't have a WT yet but I find a lot of appeal in this complication and I must say I'm attracted by the 5930 too, especially for its specific proportions. The 5230 is a very well born reference as well and it is very hard to chose if we also consider the previous references (and I don't talk about the 5575 :p ).
