Patek World Time 1415, 2523, 5110, 5130, 5131, 5575 and 5230. Some links, and another way to see them.
When you look at the World Time references created by Patek, there are some links between all these references.
5130:
Another thing I noticed is about the proportions of the dial.
5131J:
For example, an obvious link between the 1415 and the 5130 can be seen when you compare the hands.

As for the 2523, there are two links. The guilloché of the dial makes you think of the one you have in the 5110:

The lugs are less angular on the 5230, and the hour hand less... romantic?
Another thing I noticed is about the proportions of the dial.
The 2523 has a dial dedicated to time which is very centered and small... Same for the 5130, even more evident for the 5575:

Yes.....its one of the things that Patek Philippe do very well.....

Also, looking through your historic WTs, I also note how each one has such a distinct and seperate personality. Because the modern borrows from the vintage, it makes each facet of the modern something that is neither "right' nor "wrong", it is just an aspect of the watch that is reflecting something from the heritage of the brand. It makes each watch so unique yet so respectful of its heritage.
I was chatting with Gordon on PM about the 5230. I have had the two metals on my wrist a few times. In terms of how it "feels" on the wrist, to my mind it feels more formal than the 5130/1. I am not sure I can pinpoint why. Perhaps it is the more curved (less angular) lugs that give it more of a formal feel. It feels like it would be more suited to a suit/evening wear than it would a pair of jeans. All the same, an extremely attractive modern variation of the WT theme. I wonder what Basel will bring??

I prefer the guilloché of the 5110, but I adore the scissors hour hand of the 5130. Now, the 5131 offers an enamel dial and this scissors hand I like so much...
The 5230, I find it more sophisticated, with its complex guilloché and shape of lugs.
More formal, as you said.

Well, from my point of view as modern 5230 owner
I adore the guilloche on the 5230. IMO , i like the guilloche pattern better. And what's best (maybe this depend on each wrist), the 5230 case is very elegant and the curve sits very well, like hugging your wrist, compared to previous reference. Just my opinion. But still, if i have other chance, 5131 would be my ultimate choice...

Can be linked easily to the 2523 which definitely adds a lot to the modern watch,I didn’t try the watch but I am a bit skeptical about the flat bezel being a scratch magnet.
I wear my watches mostly with jeans and casual wear so I don’t know how is it going to look,Maybe waiting for the next Basel will bring up more the answer to my questions.

To me, without the crown guards like 5110 and 5130, 5230 looks younger and more modern. This feeling is opposite to Baron's thinking. As usual, to each his own.

All modern versions offer their own charm. I have had the pleasure of handling most regular production modern world timers and find them all special in different ways. One simply can’t go wrong among the choices offered.... personally for my own lifestyle and preference the 5230 is the most formal with its flat bezel and most elegant. For more casual look I do find the 5110/5230 series more relaxed. Funny to read how different forum members perceive this differently.

Meant 5110/5130 series more relaxed. For me more suitable to wear as I like wearing my watches to my every day life which mostly involves jeans and a sweater.
Even my 5131 works superbly well for this, just like my gilt submariner does.
