Getting one call that your steel Calatrava is waiting for you is enough to make my year.. getting a second call that your limited edition steel travel time is waiting for you would have been unbelievable.. until I saw it with my own eyes.
The 5212 is very charming and shows the future direction for the Calatrava line in my opinion. The strap on both pieces were an unexpected highlight for me. The dial and font are so uplifting and the hands highlighted by contrasting so uniquely with the dial. I am looking forward to Basel even more now for what Patek comes up with as a follow up.
The 7234A has an amazing dial. The size is optimal for my wrist and sits perfectly on the lucky owner.. again the strap is so fun and really gives a unique character to this piece. The movement fills out the case back generously and the legibility on the dial is excellent. My favourite complication on a watch being able to tell more then one time zone is present and executed very well with the pushers being secured against accidental operation by a smooth twist. I thought that the twist would make the pushers retract into the case but it renders the pushers static and retains the charm of pushers which balances out the crown quite nicely.
We also spoke with the proprietor of the restaurant which had on her wrist a white dial 5711. She bought the piece new from and AD in KL by just walking in and asking for it.. the AD said they didn’t have the blue dial but they have the white dial.. speechless..
Thanks again for being out these lovely pieces. Wear them in good health.
