Patek Philippe

The most friendly is the 5134, for sure. But from aesthetics and movement, I would go for the 6000. 6000 for me, then. [nt]

Among these references that made your shortlist, I’ll probably pick the 6000G. It’s a simpler but more modern version, that I find even more interesting at a time when the whole Calatrava line is being “rejuvenated”. But most of all, buy what you personally like the most, which is always the safest way to judge a watch in terms of desirability!😉
Hope you’ll have a great time on WatchProSite!

Thanks for the feedback

Yes, good advice. If I like it then someone else will! Of these 3, the 5134 appeals the most for my taste.

Welcome here!

I believe a very first step is to think about which complications you "need".
I once had a GMT and found it utterly useless as I am comfortable doing some basic maths when travelling.

From your fine selection, would vouch for the 5035. It also came with some nice grey dials and I like the case volume and shapes.
Happy hunting

Thanks for your thoughts

Hi and thanks for your thoughts! In reality I don’t “need” any complications. Don’t even need a watch. I’m not sure any of us do if we have a phone! But of all the complications, travel time would be the least un-useful..!!

A very warm welcome here!

The 5134 would definitely be my pick of the 3 as it is a useful complication with a manual movement which I personally prefer to an automatic movement. But if you do want a watch with an automatic movement, you might want to consider the 5054 which to me is terribly undervalued. The Nautilus 5712 with a similar movements sells for three time more and is in steel!  smile

Thank you!

Hi and thanks for the welcome!
I have to say I agree entirely re the 5054 being undervalued. I appreciate the complications and the gorgeous hinged display back and the movement but it’s not really a watch I’d wear, just not my taste I guess. The 5134, ie travel time is indeed a useful complication and I love how slick it is to use.

Just buy the one you like the most and forget monetary appreciation.

IMO these probably aren’t appreciating much anyhow.

But if had to guess, I’d think the PT travel time has the best chance.

Cal. 215 is a fine movement, though decades old. Wouldn’t dissuade me at all if I was after the 5134P.

Cheers,
John

Thanks John

As everyone said, since this is not a left brain purchase because value appreciation is not the objective here, then you should indeed buy what you like the most and feel you will wear most often.

 - I have been always interested in the 5035 because of the heritage & innovation of it being the first Annual calendar, that is generally very useful, and great value for money. Also I think it is generally good looking in a classic sense. My only reserves for it are (a) its relatively small size of 36mm (b) Roman numerals, which is a personal taste.

 - The 6000 in my opinion is much more modern looking, very handsome and carries the new design language of the Calatrava, which makes it more of the times. It also could be a daily wearer accordingly. My main reserve is the fact that the dial is a bit busy, and reading the date is not the easiest.

 - The 5134 is a strange one. I'm not a fan because I really dislike the general case and silhouette of it. It also feels stuck between classic and modern but not nailing either of them. also the movement doesn't cover the whole case back, which I don't like

In summary, I would suggest you decide in which format you want to wear it, more daily or for nice special occasions, and follow your heart. Personally, I would go for the 6000. Cheers,

Pulled the trigger!

Many thanks to all who’ve so helpfully offered opinions on this. It’s much appreciated.
I’ve decided to go with the piece that speaks to me the loudest in terms of what I’d use and enjoy aesthetically rather than trying to crystal ball gaze future values.
All being well, in just over a week I’ll be able to post some photos of a gorgeous 5134P. Although only very briefly, as I’m dropping it at PP for a full service almost immediately. Then a 5-8 week wait which will seem an eternity..!!!!

Wonderful, I think you've made the best choice -- of going with the reference that speaks to you the most! Looking forward to your pictures, and big congrats again! [nt]

Thanks, very excited and looking forward to what I imagine will be a slippery slope of “just one more” !!

No doubt about that -- Patek is simply a drug, and resistance is futile! ;-)) Enjoy. [nt]

It is an Interesting and fun decision you need to make !

IMO, pricing and functions aside, it comes down to the design that sings to you. The travel time has the cleanest dial, whereas the 6000 has a busy one and the annual calendar strikes a balance between the other two.

Good luck with your decision and look forward to your wrist shots !

Thanks,
