This is quite the dilemma
I would say #2, it is a little more toned down (and more legible too).
These are party pieces however, so feel free to choose a model that is loud on the wrist and utterly useless at telling time!
As to whether accepting your own second best allocation choice, that really depends how much you like that one... very personal decision
Big, big congrats if you've been selected for one of these spectacular Rare Handcrafts this year!! :-) Which of the two is a personal choice, so I can only give you my suggestion (#2)....but you're sure to end up with a terrific artwork either way! ;-)
PS: Let me add some context to the benefit of anyone who's not familiar with these new Rare Handcrafts: the two models above are called "Ellipse 70'," and are refs. 5738/50G-016 and -015, respectively.

Yes, and retail price is around CHF 81,000,- (w/o any taxes),
if I remember correctly. I asked in Geneva during the Rare Handcrafts exhibition in June. I love them both, have no favourite. Should be available in limited numbers through any AD.
Thanks, I only have the prices of the 5089G and 5177G which are a little higher, but I think it does make sense. Also the GEs are of course all application pieces, indeed with a very limited production ;-) Cheers.

I assume he meant you can *apply* via any AD (I doubt these 5738 will all be allocated by the Salon). In any event, congrats because these are indeed *extremely* rare gems, which can only go to a select few -- and trusted -- Patek collectors ;-)

Green. Not a big fan of orange and it reminds me too much of a 70s watch/design and with the retro revival the last few years, it's a bit too much.

Personally I like the green more because the color scheme matches my clothing style better 😇
On the other hand, the orange🍊dial is bright and vibrant which are important factors for a watch with an enamel dial !

An opportunity which I would not pass on
Good luck with your choice. I definitely prefer the orange strap and the dial design.
Firstly I see the ellipse case shape within the dial design which I find attractive.
Also, a light grey strap may tone down the look a bit and still work well with the case and dial.
That being said, it is quite a killer with the orange strap, not the usual Patek strap color,
but I couldn’t imagine it working better with any other dial.
Looking forward to hearing of your decision.

Both, for better or worse, remind me of patterns I associate with other everyday items. As you say, in person is the only test as this might not be so when one sees them in the metal.

In my opinion the blue green is far superior. This combo is very soothing and tasteful.
