I agree that it looks like it was made for American market : the spelling of Geneva instead of Geneve. Took the watch to a clock repair shop where they easily opened the back.
Surprise! There's a photo of great-grandma printed directly on the cuvette! So, this must have been a gift from her to him, perhaps for an anniversary.
Here are the numbers:
On the case perimeter: "No. 162521. PATEK PHILIPPE & Co. GENEVA, SWITZERLAND"
On the inside of the back cover: "PP.Co." and "18Kts" in side by side rectangles about 1x3 mm each. Two small hallmark stamps that are hard to see clearly, one centered between the rectangles and one above. Below them the number "269580", and below that a larger cross pattern with leaves at each of the compass points.
Also, there's another small stamp on the back of the stem, also hard to see clearly.
Didn't open the cuvette.
