Hi there,

i am about to purchase my very first PP watch - something i have been looking forward to for a very long time.

i have come across this online dealer that can give me a discounted price (about 25% off retail price - which is a lot of money in that price range). the dealer is not a authorised dealer.

any advise??? Please let me know!

Give them a chance to give you a better offer.

You have nothing to loose with working it out with your AD.

Online shopping carries risks. But then again nothing for nothing. Lower price higher risk.

The balance is in your hands. You need to also remember that having a local AD on your side is always can be helpful.

The previously owned segment is real one of buying the seller not the watch. For every good reputable dealer there are many that are not.

Buy the seller.

Would you ask the AD to give a better price? Or would you ask the online dealer to agree to take it back if an AD says its not a real PP?

Also, i am going to switzerland shortly and was thinking of buying it there, however i was amazed to find out that the price is pretty much the same as in london??!!!!

can you negotiate on these prices?

At least where I live. Think of the worse case: the watch is flawed, defective or not real. The extra paid with an AD is insurance that it will be real and if flawed or defective things will be put right.

As this is your first PP an AD may be hesitant to offer his best deal at the beginning. Talk to him again and talk to other AD's before buying.

there are online dealers who are beyond reproach.  I can't think of any that would knowingly sell a fake, and in general they know their product better than the AD(if you are buying used watches, you need to know the product much better than if you are just getting them from the factory).  Now there are scammers, but i'm sure people here can point you to the good guys
