Stunning! Thanks for a magnificent report and stunning photo’s!!
Hi Dje,
First I want to thank you for taking your time to present this great report to us; having done a couple articles for the PuristS orginal years ago I understand how time consuming it must be to get everything together.
Back to the 5207, just like the 5959 several years ago, it's a piece that Patek didn't talk about much but their inherent qualities seem to be gathering everyone's attention just fine. Personally I'm not so sure about all those decorations on the case, but maybe they look better in real life. I think Patek is also heading towards the trend that people are looking for bigger watches with a modern design, whether it's a time only piece or a super complication. The sad truth is that when you get over a certain age (I'm not quite there yet, but eventually I guess) you can no longer see anything clear on your watch other than those two hands. Having the perpetual calendar in apertures certainly works better than the traditional hands in that regard. In all the 5207 in my opinion is the beginning of new complications from Patek that'll look and function quite differently than current models.
With a price tag more than some people's houses the 5207 will remain a rare piece. My current favorite is still the 5078, but maybe seeing the 5207 in real I might change my mind. Thanks again for all your inputs and I certainly look forward to reading your future articles.
Cheers,
Roger
