I know this has been asked 100 times but... I don't like the stock orientation because you have to stare at the ugly tongue sticking out but if I reverse it it feels a little strange on the wrist?? Is there a right way & a wrong way? I know Lange comes with it in the good direction & the writing is straight so you know they meant it in that direction  although the same IWC buckle is reversed according to the writing. Any input appreciated.

I recently bought a Patek deployment for my 3919G Calatrava, but somehow the thing just does not sit right. The calatrava cross sits too far up and the extensions curve the strap in a funny way. I have also flipped it the other way (reversed the strap at the case) but it still looks and feels odd. I do have a very small wrist and had to punch an additional hole on the original strap. does patek make straps of different sizes for smaller wrists? will a smaller strap solve the problem of the deployment sitting too far up instead of at the bottom of the wrist right opposite the watch.

Some input will be most welcome.....as I have now taken off the deployment and using the tang buckle instead!! Thanks.

and I find I need a short strap with almost any watch I wear. To answer your question Phil I find I alway switch the orientation of the straps as they are backward to almost ever thing else I wear and out of habit I like all my watches to open the same way. As far say deployants go, I always switch them out for Tang's because they are much more comfortable for me.

I figured it out that I knew I never liked the old style Deployant because I wear my watches loose. With the old syle & loose the watch abruptly falls to one side additionally the round part has an odd bump to it. On another note the NEW PP deployant is leaps & bounds better and more comfortable with no bump.

with the Calatrava cross.  What do you mean the round part has a bump on the old version?

My 3970 did the same thing, I found myself constantly pushing the round piece to flatten it out. On the flip side no one has come up with a more ingenious invention than FP Journe with the adjustable deployant, my wrist swells & shrinks all the time. To be able to tighten or loosen while on the wrist is awesome.  If I make the strap more snug alot of this moving around on the wrist goes away but is NOT comfortable. I just found that the NEW deployant lies flatter.

I have a fairly large wrist and the 5070 strap is way to long for me which creates the tongue problem. Anyway the shorter strap will solve that issue.

Yes, I had the same problem with the alignment and getting the curve of the deployant to be postioned properly on my wrist. A shorter strap fixed it.As for the tongue facing the 6 o'clock position rather than 12 o'clock , I am used to this Patek quiick.All my other watches with deployants eg.panerai, VC faces the 12 o'clock.A point of interest is that all VC's with standard length straps with tang buckle fits me , but is a tad loose for the deployant and I need shorter straps.I am ambivalent about the new tang style deployant vs.the calatrava cross one.
