Just wanted to share a recent pic .   I still prefer the rubber strap . It brings out the best for this design.

Where I took some new photos of my 5167 & water tested it for the first time!!
I have also placed an order for the S/S bracelet, so I can have the best of both worlds.

when I decided to get this one, I was thinking the ss bracelet will be re-useable when it has a different owner.  The rubber strap has to be cut to fit, that means anyone with a bigger wrist will be out of the question.  They give different tone to the watch, the bracelet version probably goes better with shirt and tie if you need to.

It is a tough decision...the photos others have posted show the tropical strap to be beautiful and sporty. But I do think the S/S bracelet lends a feeling of elegance combined with toughness and durability. Rubber degrades over time (I have an old rubber PP tropical strap that's hard and brittle), though it can be replaced and is much less expensive than the steel.

It shows its age but I still love it

Thanks for the photo, chickenceo...the Aquanaut makes my heart race, even if it does remind some people of a porthole on a ship!  To me, it evokes all the best characteristics of the 20th century.  It's modern, stylish but not overly "precious," with a shape that's not easily summed up in one word.  It can look very sophisticated one day, and very modest the next.  I'm a big fan of wood-fired Japanese tea bowls for the same reasons; I like things that seem to take on a different character each time you look at them.

When I first saw the Aquanaut some 13-14 years ago I simply said "wow" and fall right in love. I didnt have the money to buy it until 1999 and I bought a pair (the large auto and the ladies quartz for my then gf, now my wife). I have thought about buying the Nautilus Chrono or the moonface last year, but since I am not giving up my old love, I finally pass the idea. The annual calendar on the other hand...... gotta work harder and save more money.
