Patek Philippe

Hi,   I'm thinking about getting my first Patek. I'm interested in the Nautilus 5711/1A. I do love the new 5726 and in particular the leather deploymant strap. I spoke to a dealer today who told me that the I couldn't change the bracelet of the 5711 to a leather strap. Is this correct information? I would love to be able to switch between the steel bracelet and a leather strap if possible.

Aside from that can anyone comment on the wearability of the Nautilus? I'm upgrading from my Rolex Daytona which I found to be very comfortable.

The nautilus is an extremely comfortable watch, I also own several rolex daytonas and they feel quite similar.

Im not sure about the leather strap change, some brands have stupid ideas where even though you bought the watch you cant do what ever you want.. However, I didnt have this problem with ADs or boutiques in other countries. I think its just in the UK where they try to portray an image of the "sacred watch" where youre not allowed to change it, but in the middle east they happily ordered the straps for me and changed it themselves
Some brands like patek or rolex wont allow this at all, so best to make sure.

The nautilus watches are very comfortable to wear...
From the 5711 to the 5980....

However you cannot have a leather strap on th 5711...

the deployant on the 5276 is not as comfortable as your Daytona, but not so bad you find it a distraction.

The flaw in my opinion is that you cant quickly adjust between holes

I own both the watches you mentioned in this post and thought it might of some use to you to know the bracelet cannot be changed. The Nautilus is slim and sits flat on the wrist therefore being a lot more comfortable. My choice of the two would defintely be the Nautilus!

I have the 5711 and it is indeed very comfortable.

If the flexibility is critical you might consider the 5167 Aquanaut.  It is possible to switch between the bracelet and the tropical strap.   Unfortunately, Patek changed the band attachment mechanism in the new models and the ADs can't do the swap - you must send it to NY each time (brialliant move there Patek).   Anyway, food for thought.

 

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize it was big deal to change bands even on the Aquanaut. I'm in NY but I don't think I would want to bring it in everytime to do that.

I still haven't decided what to do. I visited the Patek boutique this past weekend and tried on many models. It's such a hard decision to pick one. I think I'm going to wait until the Basel fair to see what's new.
