This is for me one of the best SS watch from the top manufacturers. Love it, although I never saw it in flesh since its production is apparently quite limited. Is that true? Damo
Availability
is indeed limited. Ref. 3712 was produced from Baselworld 2005 some 8 months onwards and nobody knows how many were produced. Probably in low hundreds.
But good news: ref. 5712 is nearly the same watch and it has been in regular production since 2006. At the moment you can find this model from many dealers and it was available i.e. in Patek's main Boutique just a couple of weeks ago.

Perfect. The "monocoque case structure" alone would worth the premium in your case. The 5712 will never be the same for you.
The main different for me is that the bases of all the date numerals on the 3712 are facing inwards, it looks strange when you look at the dates on the 5712 - "5", "7" and then "9" or is it "6"?

Indeed you are right - I nearly forgot the numerals on the date.
If I am honest, I do not regret a bit! For me 3712 is the Dram Watch, while 5712 would have been just a Good Substitute. In fact I have nearly forgotten that my new watch costed something. It is worth every lousy € and $. Those are loosing their value anyhow!
