In round fourteen, after staggering Hearns with an overhand right, Leonard pinned Hearns against the ropes, where he unleashed another furious combination, prompting referee Davey Pearl to stop the contest and award Sugar Ray Leonard the Unified World Welterweight Championship. Hearns was leading by scores of 124-122, 125-122, and 125-121.
You see, Hearns was outpointing Sugar Ray according to every single judge. It took a KO to win this fight...it was the only way it would happen. And this is exactly the same analogy with the 5070s vrs 5170s.....the latter outpoint on virtually all levels...except the most important. The K.O.
Now, to use your logic, when you had the same model with 2 different metals, 90% of the time you chose the same watch. Now, if i had a 5070P and a 5070G, I would always select the first to wear. In fact, I did have both and sold the latter precisely because of the logic you explained. However, if I had a 5070P and a 5170G, I would only wear the former too. SO, lets even the fight with me owning the 5070G and the 5170G.....i would only ever wear the 5070G. Now, for someone with a 5070P, would they buy 5070G or 5170G?
Fricks...I like the fact that when we exchange, we do so with total honesty. This way, I know not to try to hook you into a steel Explorer 1!!! At the same time, I have to say, I think the 5070 totally and utterly KOs the 5170. That is not to say that the 5170G is not a great watch...Tommy Hearns was a great fighter.
But he was no Sugar Ray Leonard.
