LIVE Baselworld 2014 Patek Philippe photos
Dear forumners,
Not ofter we can compare two types of chronograph function movement from Patek Philippe.
As I walk about in the frantic halls of Baselworld 2014, it is nice to see the oasis of calm that is Patek Philippe, where they have almost a curated museum of new and vintage timepieces, both clocks and watches. Spending a little time away from the madding crowd, I could soak in the atmosphere of the artistry that the Maison is celebrating 175 years anniversary of. The tributes are to the city of Geneva, the artisans and the products. Whether it is the new reference 5990 Nautilus chronograph travel time in steel or older models, it matters not because I can just chill. Come join me. No words....just watch

5204 question
I was wondering how the hands look on the new 5204 black dial and your overall impression.

I'm no expert on Patek Philippe but I am slightly biased about black dials for chronographs.
The hands do the job with tips touching the appropriate registers. A little superluminova allows reading at night but not too much that it becomes a christmas tree illumination. 
See the PuristS Edition of chronograph just launched that has PuristS input (and mine) below with my black dial bias.

The difference is: the isolator in the center of the movement on the left hand side
... of the 5204 in black.
The new 5204 is a very accomplished "young and modern" looking watch, where I can not confirm it for the new 5960 in steel.
I have to see it in real, the 5960, but Patek should have make it also more water proof to be a convincing daily beater watch.
There was not the new 5078 R on display?

with you on the waterproofness on the new 5960. As a possible daily stainless steel watch, should have been made more waterproof.

As much as I try,
I have a hard time accepting those luminescent hour markers on the 5204.
As far as I know, those type of hour markers are primarily associated with the
Nautilus family. And while I have heard many positive opinions and reviews
of this reference, I hope they plan to make adjustments to the dial going forward
ala 5271.

Maybe I'm just getting old.
