.....the whole range of 5070s were loved by collectors....those that had them, just loved their watches. Those that didn't have them acknowledged just how cool and desirable they were. 
Then, Patek developed their own movement rather than the Lemania.....and they have tried a large number of different variations on the theme. Yet, I think it is fair to say that the majority of collectors still believe the 5070 to be, by a margin, the best chromo put out by Patek for a very long time and comfortably ahead of the current offerings. I suspect, your 5070G will just keep getting cooler and cooler!

It also goes to show that, with watches, you can just never tell when a watch gets that special "something" that is almost impossible to define that makes it very special.

...but I was so disappointed when I tried one G on my wrist some time long ago. NO not disappointed by the watch OMG, but disappointed by my too small chicken's wrist which does not fit with the relatively large size of 5070.
Probably also because I am more used too quite small size watches (up to 34 mm for the smallest one), so I could not imagine a 5070 on my wrist.
I was SO disappointed as my mind was already made that I wanted this one (I was dreaming of the P version but was actually ready to jump on a G only because the  premium for the Pt one is so high nowadays), it is so damned COOOOOL, i love its timeless design.
Enjoy your 5070 as much as you can, you lucky guys who are lucky enough to have the right wrist for it, wear it in the best of health ;-)

Mine is now with Patek for a service. I never wear mine with anything other than jeans....so it has picked up an occasional scratch. It is over 5 years since the plastic was opened for me...well actually almost 5 years to the day. So I am also celebrating a milestone. I miss mine....but when it comes back, it will be like new.

I will send mine for a service in one year or two, also.

.....i have 4 at service....5110G, 3483 and 5070P with Patek and perpetual calendar JLC.
And do you know what, I am thinking about those four all of the time. 

What I have found interesting is the relative cost of getting the watches serviced. Lets put it this way, the 5070P was not the most expensive!! And it comes back with a complimentary alligator strap!

I know this feeling. For the moment, I have 5 watches

At service, and that obsesses me a lot...

Among them, my 2 beloved Vintage Deep Sea Alarms.

This year, I opted for funding the services of my watches, rather than adding some others. This is such a cost!

Well, if I can find the right insert ofr my 5508, I will be very happy, too.

Aaah, and maybe two or three new additions, too...

It just got what it takes to be a reference among chronographs.  I never saw all the versions next to each other.
My personal choise would be the yellow gold one with black dial now that I see them. But I understand your moment of doubt.
Fe my endorphin level went alarmingly high when I had the platinum version for a moment on my wrist ;o) 


I wish you many years of celebrating the birthday of this magnificent white gold version in your collection! A keeper!

The Pt was my first choice, but the love affair with the white gold was even longer. So, not really a second choice.

But I must admit that for once, the yellow gold made me doubt. Really cool with this black dial!

I recently had a very very VERY difficult evening.

And you know why Nicolas...

I was happy, I was light-hearted, I was reckless of the consequences... until I spent the whole evening with this 5070G on the wrist, tortured by its appeal and simply mesmerized.

This is the coolest watch I have ever seen I think : maybe not the nicest the most elegant or the most complicated but the coolest watch. I know I am lucky and I should not complain but I won't sleep well for a long time because of you.

The G version gives the watch a lot technical and sporty touch. With super good readability and a lot of strap color possibilities.

G is beautiful. In my memory, R is also very attractive with light grey dial.

The opinion on J is divided. Some close collector friends love the contract of yellow gold and black dial, but I have so far not yet found any feeling. Strange...

I don't regret my choice, Grisar, my friend.

The G is maybe a bit more polyvalent than the even cooler P.

Agreed on the J. Mixed feelings, but somehow this combo is very attractive. The More Vintage of them?
