Patek 2509 help needed
Hello everyone....
I came across this watch recently.... If i was to buy this watch it would be my first Patek... I dont know what I dont know ....
I can get more photos but would love to get some advise from the hive mind here....
I will try to get the case opened , I was told it has a its original dust cover..
Any thoughts comments etc..... good bad and ugly are wanted....

Hi Bill
Nice to find you here. You should find a calibre 12 400 inside. I'm not sure about how original the dial is. You'd need a loupe or we'd need some macro photos to advise you.

From a visual inspection, you need to ask the seller :
crown, dial, hands, hallmarks, case, dust cover, movement - coincide archive info.
The watch from your provided pics looks genuine.

Not the best looking dial I have seen
But it could be the crystal
The broken swan neck will cost a few $ to repair
I suspect there is better out there. But it will depend on what you want to spend

The knock off pin buckle does seem to raise some questions about the watch. It would be nice to have an Extract from the Archives or other service papers if they are available.

1st question: What draws you to THIS model?
Is it the dial? the case?
The fact that its a 'vintage pate', thus any other vintage PP would do, OR

If the price is very good, then just jump on oit. It looks OK, used as a real watch should be, and with a service and NEW crystal, it'll look amazing

I always liked a simple manual wind pp .. Plus I love the fb screwback case in 18k to boot...
I have others by other makers like movado , alpine , mido ...
The case is tops in my book .
Simple ... But the broken swan neck might be the straw , as it is hint that a possible low end watchmaker "repaired " this and that just might be the tip of the iceberg
