I had a terrible experience 15 years ago with a 5004P.
2 seriuos technical problems at the split!!
2 times to Geneva!!
No money problems, PP repaired it twice free and Mr. Stern each time gifted me a PP book for excuses, but I waited 2 TIMES 2 YEARS!!!
Pateks are in my opinion the top and best watches, but it seem that these problems happen too frequently.
Anyway... good luck, I understand your disappointment!
I can understand your frustration.
I really believe this is bad luck, never heard of anything like this.
Yes keep us posted of the outcome how PP handles the situation for you.
Bon courage my friend.
Mike
I will let you guys know how it all works out.PP uses a very fine oil but thin oil which tends to dry quicker than oils used by other brands. Regular wearing helps prevents sticking problems. These watches are meant to be worn, perhaps more so than others. Periodically putting the watch on a winder would help but be sure it rotates count clock wise.
Winding these watches 40 times is really not good for the movement. PP in fact suggests 8 winds. Over winding automatic movements can strip gears sometimes to where the watch will not wind in any way. Automatic watches, due to the internal clutch which prevents over winding the watch automatically, are not meant to be manually wound. In fact some makers are proud of their new innovative movements which allow for both manual or automatic winding regularly.
This reference does not have a dynometric crown so it can overwound manually. I know the dynometric crown as is on the 5170 is only on manual wind watches.
It may be me but PP did the right thing here right out of the box. I have had issues with my watches. I call PP and send the watch off to them if needed. I would not go public on such matters until and unless you feel you are not treated right by PP.
