Zenith

Dear all, I am debating between these two watches to purchase. Zenith El Primero is an iconic watch with lots of history. But the Zenith Pilot comes with annual calendar complication which I would like to have very much. Eventhough the Zenith Pilot watch costs more, I don't mind the higher price. Please give me your opinion on which one to go for and why. Thank you very much.

This one is the icon. And the most consistent one between these two.

I'm generally not a big fan of the Pilot line, I find them a little too much style over substance - though I do own the Big Date.  This annual calendar does have the interesting complication of using a very simple annual calendar mechanism - the same one found in the Ochs und Junior watches.

Or I should stick to 42mm?

Also depends on your wrist ... 45mm is on the bigger side.
For me, Zenith's strength is when they stick to tradition a bit more ...

I am a big guy. I think 45mm is going to fit me ok. But, is 42mm more desirable?

I think ! That makes it an enormous watch for most !

Which size should I go for? 42mm or 45mm?

Is there a reason that I should not buy the 42mm El Primero? Any other watches out there I should also consider? I have Submariner, Navitimer, Reverso, Seamaster, Speedmaster, MeisterSinger, Combat Sub, PAM111 and Seiko Orange Monster in my collection already.

Hello I was in a similar position a few weeks ago. Except I was only considering the Pilot line, different ones in the Pilot. After trying them, I eliminated some due to size. Even though I have pretty large wrists, the 48 mm was just too big for me. So was debating between the Big Date pilot and the new Ton-up Cafe racer (which insidently is a a pilot and El Primero movement!) After more thoughts, I went to the dealer with the intention of buying the Ton-up. There I tried on a few more, and then the lightening struck and I came home with



So my suggestion is to try them on and just see which one makes you smile the most ! Good Luck Tony

I'd go for the pilot annual calendar without any doubt. Simply love the design of the pilot line and with 48mm it has a wonderful wrist presence.
