Second only to andrewluff's Piece Unique Zenith Pilot Montre d'Aeronef Type 20 with it's orange accents (a stroke of genius).
To back up a bit, it was back in November whilst browsing watch forums that I came across an article on the Type 20. To borrow a phrase from "Twilight", it is as if the watch had imprinted on me right off the website page. Up until that moment, I had been eying a few watches that would have totally stretched my budget, mainly an Urwerk 103, and MB&F HM2, or a pink gold IWC Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar. It was at this point that I started to search for a Type 20, and after a few leads, I finally found one of the coveted limited 75 pieces in New York. So taking a couple of days off, I flew to NYC from my home in Shanghai, to collect the piece last month. Taking it back to my hotel room, I sat at the office desk and slowly opened the box. I must say that Zenith watches do now come with absolutely beautiful boxes crafted like the best luxury humidors. My current Zenith, a Defy Extreme Open Stealth came in a rather boring matt wooden box that did not stir any emotion. And so as I picked the Type 20 up in my hands and slowly begun to wind the watch. It was like winding a vintage clock, and after winding, and a slight shake to set the balance wheel in motion, it was as if suddenly this inanimate object came to life with a beating heart. Those of you who have heard the ticking sound of a Type 20 will know what I mean. It is a very soothing sound, a reminder that time stops for nobody.
I am not sure what category this watch falls into. It is too large to be a dress watch. To be honest, I feel this watch is perfectly at home with slacks and a plain white T-shirt.
Apologies for the bad camera work.
