Britten, F. J. Watch and Clockmakers Handbook, Dictionary and Guide 1915 (reprinted in the last decade).  Slightly dated but VERY detailed.  Since so much of the watch world still works much as it did then, the info is still good, besides the engravings are great!

Barrow, Christopher The Verge Pocket Watch 2011.  Very specialized, but a good book on the topic, covering both the British and the Continental style of Verge pocket-watch movement

... not a watchmaking book per se, but even more important for us: Since centuries, French is the main language of watchmaking, but here we speak English. As a consequence, we have frequent difficulties to determine the correctly corresponding technical term in English - or German or Spanish, when we have only the French word.

Help is offered by the standard horological dictionary, now available in a single volume:

G.A. BERNER, Dictionnaire professionnel illustré de l'horlogerie, Francais - Deutsch - English - Espagnol. Unfortunately, it has no ISBN and is available only from the Fédération de l'industrie horlogère suisse (FH), Rue d'Argent 6, CH - 2501 Biel/Bienne, Switzerland.

For those who have the opportunity to visit the Basel watch fair, there is always a book shop in a small pavillon in front of the main entrance, where the book is sold.

is a wonderful and incredibly detailed analysis of all things escapement! Can be hard to find though!

More a biographic book but it shows how hard is to innovate (the co-axial) on the Swiss watch industry.

The hardship faced by Daniels shows how the watch industry reacts to new ideas.

Recommended.
