I am doing a series of photos from "my window", kind of a play on "Rear Window" (1954 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock based on Cornell Woolrich's 1942 short story) or "Smoke" (1995 independent film directed by Wayne Wang & Paul Auster that featured Harvey Keitel).
Having done pre-sunrise, here are some post-sunset images (taken around 6:00 PM on a weekday)

Thanks for looking,
Casey
a SLIK Grand Master II, which is a very sturdy (and a little heavy) aluminum tripod with a three way head. The carrying case is 0.75 meters long... the three way head is very convenient when using a medium format camera... in my case the image is reversed on the ground glass and the 3-Way head just makes it easy to compose...
the other tripod is a Manfrotto 190CX Q-90-4S with the 486 ball head. When folded it's 54cm long and it gets the most use when shooting 35mm film/digital... very light and actually fits in a large suitcase when traveling.
The Mamiya RB67 sits on the SLIK next to the balcony window
The photos from this series were hand held but resting on the balcony railing... most of my night photos are made using a tripod or support of some kind...

and maybe you can see my preferences come through in the following HDR composite...
Details:
01) using three photos taken on 27-Feb
02) constructed using Canon DPP (three images maximum)
03) I darkened the blacks a bit as it's a pre-sunrise photo and adjusted the horizon

Comment: I am somewhat satisfied with the foreground, but the distant horizon became somewhat "un-sharp" / "off focus"
Enjoy...
Casey
Are you located in Japan? May I ask what prefecture / area?
Yes, the view was one of the factors when selecting this place... not much chance of major construction blocking the view in the future... I enjoy the morning sun and night views.
