If I am not hijacking your Thread, I can related an old story. Years ago,I was at a UN dinner.....
(the late) Rolf was wearing the first MIH prototype. He also showed us a Sonata movement and the dial/hands. When I talked to him about the softness of the alarm and the unappealing dial and hands, he politely suggested I buy something else.
I wonder if you saw the first iteration of the sonata. That was too quiet. I had one but was able to trade for the second generation Sonata which has a much more vibrant chime. [nt]

Yes, it sounds louder, and I would say higher. The 1st generation is more " round ". [nt]

In this case louder is better
The first iteration had a solid back and the chimes were too muffled. They used an "amplifier" to magnify the sound but it was not practical. The Cathedral is significantly better. It will waken me from sleep and will truly remind me of an appointment when it is on the bedside stand or on my wrist.
My friend. First I still prefer the RG with gray dial.
