It's hard to believe my Freak is 12 years old...seems like yesterday. Not a daily wearer but still runs as it should. Original first generation.

You never upgraded your Freak? Good! ...
Are you hesitating to send it in for service? A while ago I heard that - more or less automatically - all Freak 1s are upgraded to 1.5 standard when sent in.

That is correct, it hasn't been serviced. I got it in the first month they were shipped after release and I have never had an issue with it. I wear it, but infrequently and i don't really want to send it in in part for that reason. With the silicium escapement do you think this is avoidable ?
