For the first time, I have tried on a Freak
I know, why not before? I have seen them but actually do not even recall handling one. In any event, on a recent trip to Las Vegas, I came across this wonderful Freak Phantom, a 99 piece LE launched in 2013.
As I mentioned, it is a very deep piece. I could be eternally content with a Freak in my collection.
Impressions? It is awesome. So much depth to it. I was able to wind it and adjust the time. Both charming aspects of owning a Freak for owners I suspect.
I'm not sure the added tourbillon complication on this and other versions is really necessary, but it sure looks cool. Still, I would definitely opt for a more "conventional" Freak (if that makes any sense).

I had really hoped to see a Freak Cruiser but could not find one. That will likely be my Freak choice, hopefully one day...
A Freak is a Freak, a milestone in a collection, in my biased opinion.
Now, if I had to get one, I would probably repeat my choice, and go for a first generation. I prefer the smaller case, and the lucky lack of lock ( that sounds quite funny, phoneticaly speaking ).
But I wouldn't complain if I could get a Diavolo.
So, soon among the Freakie Fans, my friend?

I really like this limited version...
however, I agree with you. Love my original version 1.0 in WG at 42 mm. Unmodified and happy I never had some of the initial escapement problems. I must say I like it without the lock as well, but I think all versions are winners!
To think mine is 13 years old but still seems so modern...very timeless pieces no matter which you choose and each with their own personality.

Hard to ever beat the original.
That will always be the best Freak, IMO, even if I would go for the newer Cruiser version.

Had I been wise enough to get the original years ago...
I would not part with it either.
While I have not yet handled a Cruiser version, I like the updates it has received.

It is an amazing watch and design no matter whether it is the original version though to the latest cruiser. I love the new models with the use of the anchor and waves on the bezel.
I actually had mine on last night after a break sat in the bank and remembered how much I love it...

I absolutely love my Freak Blue Cruiser, but I might prefer the Phantom, or the Diavolo
The primary reason is that I really miss the precision of a seconds hand. The minute hand on the Blue Cruiser is quite wide so you never really know the time more accurately than +/- 2 minutes or so. Plus the tourbillon inside a tourbillon concept is super Freaky. That said, the bridge on the Phantom obscures the going train, which was on of my primary motivations for going with the Cruiser. There are a few different versions of the Cruiser, but I like mine since the bridge is the same color as the dial so they are almost invisible, giving me a clear view of the going train. I absolutely love the depth. It's the primary reason I didn't go with a new Freak One.
