We don’t see the Harmony enough out here so took few pics. Hope you like them
One thing is for sure with Vacheron; most models are relatively expensive compared to their peers
But on the other hand; most models are gorgeous.
The Patrimoni is the one model line I don’t like that much. Find them Arve and with that doomed crystal it’s too much early sixties for my taste.
The Traditionelle I like lot better. Especially both the higher end perpetual calendar chronograph but also the pure simple time only with small second and no date (and manual wind)
The Corne de Vache; say no more so great. Wanted to buy one in platinum but when they came out with the steel version I abandoned that plan. The steel is great looking but to me introducing the steel version took away a bit of the exclusivity especially of the platinum version.
So didn’t buy and perhaps next year I’ll buy the steel version but then with different mindset to it.
One model I really really like is the Historique Royal Chronometre. A simple round case, but the dial in kind of off-white or cream white enamel. Absolutely gorgeous.
Rumor has it they will soon launch a new model just for ladies. Can’t wait to see it

You may recall I’ve started with photography and my wife recently bought me a complete brand new set of photography equipment.
Next to a great camera (for my level) the Nikon D7500, she added a macro lens next to the entire set (20-140 mm Nikon, 40 mm prime Nikon, 300 mm prime Nikon, hard security case for travel and storage, tripod and pair of Nikon binoculars)
So I’ve been practicing for a while with some close up or macro photos (as you know) and the results are slowly getting better.
Two things I learned very quickly:
- shooting with natural light is much easier especially when light is coming thru little bit filtered i.e. thru thin gauze or net Curtains (if I’m not mistaken the French word is vitrage like in Dutch)
- polishing and cleaning the watch before shooting improves the photo many times over.
It ain’t all perfect yet. Been trying to experiment with multiple overlaying exposures to decrease the area that’s out of focus but results not yet at level to put online haha.
Same for catching the case at an angle where you can see the dome or peak inside from the side.
But that’s all work in progress for now I’m happy the pictures are improving.

When I served in the US Airforce as a flight commander and weapons instructor pilot flying the F16, a watch like this Harmony wouldn’t have been on my radar so to speak.
And luckily I enjoy 3 different “styles” of watches
- more classical styles mostly red or yellow gold like this Harmony
- chronograph like the Overseas
- or watches with some peculiar unusual styling (as long as it’s chique classy and not “in your face”) like the 1921.
And I’m thankful that live has been friendly to us and that I got all 3 of them.
And if you like these type of watches and obviously are a fan of VC like myself, then you’ll probably like my latest addition as well.
It was a gift from my wife and god she knows me well:

That CdV you’re wearing is superb. When I first saw it I couldn’t have imagined it being such a success.

I remember thinking it was crazy for me to spend 22K retail on an AP Jumbo, new, from the boutique.
Now, I can’t even get a little over half of one for that much.
I think it’s a good time to get a gold watch during this steel craze.
Only watch I can say I got for cheap was a $1.50 USD Timex from a thrift store.

I really like VC’s execution and dial layout for their calendar pieces.
Big boy watch right there, said in my most “me-too” tone and manner.
I have toyed with the idea if someday trying to have the VC overseas perpetual, with three straps, as my only watch.
Entry fee should mean you won’t see many.
Either way, you have royalty on the wrist, one day for me.

If i look at what the house have to offer, i have no difficulties to chose.
If i look to JLC, they have not any watch i want.
Watches differ a lot, and it is evidence that they do not copy each other.

The 1921 and CdV certainly carry the VC spirit at its best
I think those two models will never get old. They are just perfect the way they are.
As for the rest of VC‘s collection, it is so diverse with so many different, great models and complications, it’s really hard to pick winners
