Vacheron Constantin

Hey guys,

This will probably come down to the purpose of this watch for you. One is a dress watch and the other is a sports model. What will fit into your life better ?

I already own some Dress and some sporty pieces, however as I dress more casually, I usually wear more sports watches. I really like the 47200, but I am really afraid that it is going to look small with a 36mm diameter! But I confess that I really love the guillhoche work on that timepiece! Here in Brazil, the situation because of the Corona is getting pretty bad, so I found that Vacheron for only $3800 USD with box and papers, and the guy is willing to divide that price on 5 payments with no interest on the credit card! The other timepiece is selling for around $1200 more on a wire transfer!

Which will fit into your life better ?

and the dial and bezel is VC DNA all the way through. Not sitting on the fence on this one !  

I really love the Bracelet on that piece, my father owns a second generation with chronograph which is very beautiful! However, I love how the 1st generation was very thin and dressy, I believe it really compares to a Royal Oak Jumbo costing 5 times less! Maybe, in the future that piece will appreciate in value, as they keep increasing the prices on the newer ones!

Both are great watches.

If you take a rational pragmatic view. The which one to choose could be a function of (in no particular order)

* intended use ie leisure or office
* other pieces in your collection
* do you have a collection strategy and if so which one fits in best
* future value estimates (for some this is more important that for others)
Etc etc

But you can rationalize it from here to eternity the true answer is simply: which one makes you jump which one makes you tick and heart go faster?

Neither one? Then walk away.

The Vacheron Constantin Overseas 2nd generation chronograph was a grail piece for me for a long time when I was younger, so It was a watch that I always planned on buying! I found one pre-owned for an amazing price, but as I did not have the means to buy it at the time, my father bought for himself, however, that watch did not fit really well on my wrist!
So, I started thinking about adding a 1st generation VC on my collection, I currently own a AP Royal Oak Offshore triple calendar which on a strap, which is also from the 90's, so I believe they would make a great combo together!
However, I really love the work on the dial of the VC 47200, I had the opportunity to visit the factory of VC and meet one of the guys that worked on the guillhoce for Vacheron, and they really do an amazing work over there, I really love the design of that dial, but I am afraid that I am not going to wear it very much as I currently own many dressy watches with an white dial a Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantieme, Datejust Turn-o-graph, Peter Speake Marin Valsheda, Roger Dubuis Hommage (white gold) with an white enamel dial and a Piaget Gouverneur 36mm (white gold) and a Reverso Gran Sport.

I visited the VC factory last October and was totally impressed. Got the grand tour and we were looking over the shoulder of the master engraver when she made special engravement in our latest VC addition
