Vacheron Constantin

I recently inherited a VC from my late grandfather and I need some help on identifying the date of manufacture and anything else you can tell me. Unfortunatly recent circumstances have force me into a position where I need to sell it.

On back case:
335753
18K  0.750 (gold I assume)

On movement:
1001
VXN
502592

I would also like your opinion on it's ball park value (in a PM). I plan on having it appraised by at least three shops, but I just wanted an idea of what I have first.

Also, would having it professionally restored ( scratches buffed out of crystal and gold, movement adjusted and lubricated, etc.) significantly raise the value? I understand that this procedure is very expensive if done by a reputable craftsman, would I recoup my expense? Should this be done before or after I have it appraised?

Ref. 4888, from the mid to late 50's, perhaps a ladies model.  The full-size version is 26mm wide w/o crown.  Probably has its own reference number which I cannot locate.  If you provide the case and movement number to VC, they can confirm authenticity (no doubt there), reference and date of manufacture.  As with most vintage V&C, so few examples come up that values are speculative at best.  Research past auction prices for a guide.

That is a very nice dress watch,with an unusual black dial - and for that reason,you would be forgiven for falling foul of this forums principle rules - never to ask for valuations !!!!!

This has a VXN indication; VC movement, but probably not a VC watch.

It does look like it could use some serious TLC and I doubt it would be worth the expense if you plan to sell it. Please contact the concierge (from the North American webpage for VC) and give him the information you listed here. He will be able to answer some of your questions with authority.
