I completely agree. You made a nice upgrade there.
There was a period when it seemed the brand only used black or dark brown large scale gator leather for its straps. Thankfully, those days are over.
You're strap really livens up the watch and changes the character in a good direction. In my opinion, you hit it out of the park with the new strap.
