Independents

Hello Everyone, New member here from Italy. I've been on watch forums for a number of years, but never had the pleasure of stumbling across watchprosite until I purchased a Habring Felix last autumn. Now, I basically live here in the Independents forum. A lot of members have some truly amazing collections. So, without further ado, a wristshot and I look forward to tapping into your wealth of information and advice.

What a nice welcome. I had such a great experience with the Habrings that I cannot get independent watchmaking out of my head! Besides two sentimental watches, this is the collection, ha ha! It is posing a problem, however. When buying I was convinced it would occupy the dresswatch portion of any future collection, but it dresses down suprisingly well. So, I'm literally at a loss of where to go from here..Independent for sure!

So you will surely find whatever you desire Was actually thinking of getting the Felix as a more formal watch as well, so interested in your experiences there

and welcome here. Habring is all about understated values and intrinsic watchmaking, and I can understand the passion. Looking forward to seeing more of this one here.

After a few years of buying and flipping watches, I took a step back and asked myself what I really wanted from this hobby. These reflections led me to Habring 2 as they really are a mirror of the way I've become over the years. Living in Italy I understand the importance of supporting local artisans, the quality and passion they provide and just how damaging competition can be from outside forces. I try to stay away from luxury for luxury's sake and go for quality and function above all else and will happily pay more to support that locally. I decided if I am going to depart with my hard earned money it should go to people who are working hard to push the art into the future.

Congratulations Asonstuf. That's a very nice watch from a brand that I respect a lot. Mr Habring's background is nothing short of impressive. And the Habrings seem like genuinely good people.

that is a truly stunning watch. their double split chrono is an all-time favorite of mine, and lovely people too

If it can stay around 12mm thick with the new movement, it will be hard to say no

I missed before:
- the lowered logo on the movement
- the engraved balance cock
Are both tailor-made customisations?

As we didn't speak about that and it seems to be what they are doing as of late. I don't mind it. It breaks up the plane a bit so is a bit more interesting. Originally, I had asked for some engravings on the movement plate, but Maria said it would be a bit complicated as they would have to mill the whole plate (and not just the logo part). I opted to have the balance cock hand engraved and then to have the 'memories' laser engraved around the case back. But I didn't want to overly complicate things and in the end she was right. As a first venture into the 'possibilities', I think it was a good first step.
