This is the first year I am going to visit Baselworld wearing a watch that was released just few days ago  

One of the most disturbing thing is seeing watches at the fair and having to wait months to get them (yes, Omega I am looking at you. 8 months for the trilogy? seriously...) 

Nomos Glashütte just released the Nomos Autobahn: a new automobile inspired model that has a lot going on. Thanks to the exclusive launch with Mr Porter it was actually possible to get the watch even faster than from the official Nomos online store.   As always in my reviews  I let the photos talk  

My version is the midnight blue dial. As you can see the dial is slightly curved and recalls the dashboard gauge. 

The strap is nylon but consistent with the 100 Mt water resistance. I also like this strap because it gives a very casual feel to the 

watch.

Now not everyone likes the date and here you have 3 on a serious note the date has a quickset in both direction: new to Nomos and a result of the new caliber. 





the central track is filled with super luminova. As you can see the colour of the dial changes depending on the light

The Nomos autobahn features a new  in-house DUW 6101 caliber that allows for a quick set of the data in both directions. It is a new automatic movement that also features the swing system escapement. Utilitarian, no non-sense but a pleasure to look at.

In conclusion I applaud Nomos for issuing a new watch and making it available immediately. This is the way it should be at least for 

certain models.  The design might not appeal to everyone but is a great daily wearer and the new in-house movement looks great too. 

The date is very practical to me and the water resistance too since it can double as a watch for the office and the pool.
