An Ordain Model One Iron Cream
A minor miracle bestowed itself upon me this week when I was able to buy this An Ordain Model 1 watch with an iron cream dial.
An Ordain have a full order book until 2028, they are almost impossible to get your hands on one. I'm still in a state of shock that I was offered this unworn model at a very fair price.
A beautiful, understated & unique dial makes this watch one of my most favourite in my collection.

TYVM I will. A huge stroke of luck getting it. James Porter & Son are jewellers in Glasgow that were authorised dealers for An Ordain from their inception. The watch was given to the owner of the AD. He decided that it was to be sold to someone that came into their store & spoke of their desire to own one. They didn't advertise the watch as being available. I actually went in to look at a Grand Seiko Skyflake, pure luck that I happened to talk about An Ordain & how much I loved their dials.
That is a great story — an excellent way for the first owner to make sure the watch goes to another passionate collector!👍Cheers.

It is but it's also a huge frustration. I got an email in Nov 22 telling me I'd got to the top of the list & if I wanted to secure the watch I needed to pay an advance deposit of $500. I'd get an email in the new year where they'd take my order for delivery in June. I hadn't heard from them by March & when I contacted them to say what's going on? They told me that it was new year 2024 that they were going to contact me. I had misread the date. A deposit 18 months in advance for a watch is taking the p1ss. I could be dead by then 
Their watches are beautiful but they are a victim of their own success, they cannot meet demand & their communication with customers is shocking.

I really hope that they can up their production as currently they can only produce 30 dials a month. Scotland doesn't have much of a watch making tradition so there's a huge skills shortage to cope with. Getting skilled workers that can hand paint their dials is very difficult. Apparently for every dial they produce they put 7-10 in the bin due to imperfections.
Not yet. TBH I went in just to have a look at it again, I didn't have the cash to buy it this week. Actually that's not quite correct. I promised I would sell before I bought. Currently I've got a Speedmaster Professional, a Seamaster 300M, a Rolex OP 36mm, a Cartier Tank Francaise 2023 model & a Tudor Black Bay 58 925 all for sale on Chrono24. Once I have sold a couple of them I'm going to buy the "Skyflake".
