The book every independents freak needs to have
Was is 'White" by Osvaldo Patrizzi , where I was exited about, a couple of years ago, this time it is the book
'MASTERS OF CONTEMPORARY WATCH MAKING'
by Michael Clerizio. Published in 2009
Most watch books have a section about some independents;
this book is only about independents.
It's a 290 pages full color publication, 30 x 30 cm.
Besides George Daniels, Svend Andersen, Vincent Calabrese, Philippe Dufour, antoine Preziuso, Franck Muller,
Aniceto Jiménez Pita, Alain Silberstein, Marco Lang, Vianney Halter and Roger Smith, who each have up to 20 pages each.
watchmakers as Felix Baumgarten, Greubel Forsey, Stephan Sarpaneva, Kari Voutilainen and many others have two to four full pages each.
I photographed the book with my watch on the Urwerk page, so you have an idea how large his publication is.
Lots to read, beautiful photography, contact information all in one book.
I was impressed and it has kept me busy during Christmas.
In the back of the book is a list with watch museums, technical dictionary, international watch forums and websites,
(hey have I seen troisanneaux.com?) Hmm misser, organisations, picture credits nothing seems to be forgotten.

absolutely fantastic book and a very nice price
the only drawback was that the main text is set white-on-browned watch photos which is hard to read, so more terrace than bedtime reading.

Hi Andreas - and so readably right!
I have only read only a chapter or two so far about my favorites, with clean hands and the book resting on a clean surface; but I have to tilt the book at a certain angle so that the text becomes readable. I am living more in a workshop than an apartment under dismal lighting conditions. Outside - well its Hamburg - now.
As for taking the book out to the terrace - or balcony in my case - you know about the storms that are about to hit Northern Germany, predicted as starting tomorrow.
I think that you are located further in the southern part of Germany and will hopefully be spared from climate change at its best.
Would I take the book into bed with me? No, because I often reach out for a chocolate bar - with disasterous relsults for the sleeping materials.

yes, in Baden-Württemberg only light snow. Stay warm, and enjoy your book while the storm is howling - after all they manage to see and work on tiny things in the Vallee de Joux in weather like this so we should be able to read about it!

Got mine for the holidays - absolutely fantastic.
When I unwrapped the book, I rapidly became MIA from my family. Every page is a treat. My only criticism is that the text is on a tan background and hard to read in less than optimal light (for example in the early morning when my wife is asleep and I don't want to turn the light on).
It has lulled me to sleep at night with watch fairies dancing lovely pictures in my head.
What's more, it is now my official "check list".
The interviews and background stories of the watchmakers profiled in the book make the watches even more special.
Okay, I must admit to getting more than a little thrill seeing such large pictures of some of the watches that I own. Yeah, it's an ego boost. What is even more fun is seeing a picture of the watchmaker wearing a watch that I own. Can you guess who and which watch? (TM you don't count in the guessing).

What a coincidence!
The one is what you refer here and another is "just movements".
The title IS "MOVEMENT". All pages are just the photos of movements from various masterpieces.
Nothing to read on the book, just to look at! Every page is "ooh!" and "aah!".

i've just bought mine from Amazon
Amazon have it at only £31 so i jumped on it. all i've got to do now is carry it around with me to every independent show or the SIHH and clamour like a groupie to get it signed

Have had it for a while now...
...and I'm sad to say that the poor graphic design makes it almost unreadable for me. The writer also seems a bit given to hyperbolic prose (in my view) and the fact checking could be a bit better from what I've read so far, but all in all it's a great resource to have! I only wish that I could get through more than a few pages at a time before eye strain forces me to put the book aside...
