Hi all,
Have not seen a vintage Heuer thread around these parts for quite a while.
Have been into vintage Rolex for some time, and having purchased a gilt 5513, gilt
1675 and 1655, the next logical progression seemed to be getting a vintage
Daytona.. Until you see what decent (or even half decent) pieces go for these
days.
As such my attention turned to other vintage chronos, and have been
quite taken with the vintage Heuers, especially the Carreras and Autavias. To me
they are steeped in history, and are richly interconnected with motorsports
racing in the 70s.
I'm sure there're some of you out there with some
nice specimens, please come forward and post pictures of your
beauties!
Right now I'm quite besotted with the Carrera 2447SN and the
Autavia 2446. The former is elegant and timeless, a not necessarily inferior peer of the uber-hyped Daytona, while the latter is masculine and daring, reminiscent of racing heroes like Jochen Rindt and Jo Siffert.
The picture of the Carrera is from OnTheDash, while the
Autavia belongs to a good buddy of mine.
What's your flavour?
