I'm glad to post one of my first topic here since I read / learn so much on this forum.
Especially for the Navitimer 806 : one of my dream watch. . . The one i'm about to buy if everything goes well 
My question :
-- i tried a superb Navitimer 806 rcecently here in Paris. This watch is said to be from 1966 in a very good condition.
The seller (a well known antique watch seller) told me that the watch was indeed in mint condition because it's a NOS watch.
I would like to have your opinion on this "assumption" based on those photos (basically : does everything matches ... ?) :
I'm asking for your support for the price too. Don't cheap to my opinion but i'm willing to buy it if it's a "real NOS".
Last info : no box, no paper but apparently the original leather strap !

Let s do not discuss about the exact price but let s say that this watch has a price in accordance with its NOS status (meaning almost twice the price of a classic 806).
Hence my question about the matching (real dial ... accordance dial, case, bezel and the date etc.)
I am not a Navitimer expert, but this one looks in great shape.
The case doesn't look polished.
The dial is in top condition.
NOS I don't know, but in top condition, obviously.

Everything seems to be ok (crown, buttons, solid back, hands, dial, sub-dials...) and in great condition. So why not if it's one of your dream watch ;-)

I'm not an expert
but the one thing I can notice is the patina of tritium on the dial is far stronger than that of the hands. A superb example of a vintage Navitimer otherwise!

Can the dealer provide some daylight/sunlight pictures showing the dial to have a better look at the dial lume and lug edges? Also read an article by Kurt Broedum that explains the dial, etc. variations by manufacture period to make sure its period correct. You could compare the case with my Navi pictures I could post here to check if is not polished, finish should be same I think, except for mine will have dial, bezel and caseback variations consistent with a 54-55 V72 model. Will message you details of some collectors you could crossheck with too, all the best!

The serial number is 1 033 217 ou 1
038 217 (hard to read...). To my knowledge, it's thus a watch from 1965 and non 1966. Am I right ?
For the rest, I see a WOG on the caliber meaning that it's genuinely a watch sold for the american market.

Was looking at a chart on my phone and saw it wrong, 1965 is 1002735 to 1060398 so makes your serial correct for 1965. [nt]

Apart from NOS having achieved relative term status
carefully study the outer white ring. These are often replaced with very good replicas. IMHO very few watches are NOS. There should be some provenance to prove that. Good luck.

Part seems to have been a failure point for the early ones. It's not the color, it is the numbers and spacing that differ from the original. I just can't remember where I saw the collector who distinguished the two. Very subtle but there. I will play with it but I can't promise anything. Bill
Some thoughts after 1 day of wearing it.
Hi everyone, here is my feelings after one day of wearing it :
- love the way it looked. The patina, the glossy dial, the color of the subdials...
- highly compfortable with the nato strap. The with is very contemporary
- The watch is 10 88 XX XX. So 1966 and it matches the dial etc. I assume this is good sign.
it still have some questions not answered :
- mine has lum. on the hand for the second. Most of the other watches don't,
- the seller told me that this one is "rare" because it's glossy. Does any one knows if it's real ? Mate Vs Glossy. I didn't notice that there is 2 versions of this dial..
- i'm not sure but the hands might had been serviced because in a dark room, it still illuminate a bit. . . In comparison, the index : not at all
- The expert (Kurt) told me that the watch has been polished. Might be right but very slightly because the edges are strong in my view.
