Actually, there are two watches, and these are quite different,
being „first Vintages“.
One, an Omega Seamaster ss with gold hands and indices, from early 60ies,
was passed on to me as an heirloom from my father- in-law, in the late 90ies.
It is a plain watch, almost austere, a simple but very balanced creme dial, three hands, no date,
the Seahorse on the caseback.
For me a fine watch, a very fine, not more no less ! And one with very good memories..
The other one marks my first „collected“ Vintage watch, of my fav watch brand, JLC.
It‘s also a timepiece from the early 60ies, a high time for LGM‘s clasical design lines.
Furthermore, it is a Memovox, actually my first one of this classical JLC complication series.
Lastly, this one is so very special, as it also marks the beginning of a great friendship,
to a wonderful friend, also watch collector; my stumbling over this pieces, actually
a Memovox, Ref E 855 ocurred in one of my most loved Cities of the world, Paris..
It was pure coincidence, that we could source a Memovox from the high days of JLC‘s
classic period.
So now to make the long story short, here these two „first Vintages“,
both watches being keepers in my stables..

Omega Seamaster dress watch, unobtrusively charming
Lastly, Why I love Vintages ?
For me, as these two mentioned and meanwhile many others which have followed,
are little time capsules. They let me enjoy the richness and charme
of design codes, which often are very special and mostly allow
a fascinating window into the development & aesthetics of often
timeless pieces, which touch us from former moments..
Wishing you all a good week,
Best, hs.
