First generation Polerouter Subs are stunning and rare watches but unfortunately the watch pictured is most likely a fake
This is what is known as a second execution of the first generation Polerouter Subs. The second execution models are identified by straight lugs, the entire hour markers are lumed, thick numerals on the bezel and no lume on the bezel. In contrast, the first execution models have curved lugs, tiny lume dots on the hour markers, thinner numerals on the bezel and often have lume on the bezel from 0 to 20.
Unfortunately, many (possibly all?) of the second execution models are fakes. The biggest tell tale sign of these fakes is that there is always a gap in the word "GENEVE" between "GENE" and "VE". These are known as Australian fakes as it is thought that they originated in Australia. They very often also have poor quality cases and rougher looking crowns.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news for the owner. There is a great deal of discussion about these watches on the Universal Geneve Board of the Omega Forums if you would like to read more about them.
