Can it be too complicated??
How many of you here like multiple complications? For me a watch can have too many complications, I really prefer time and date, a 24 hour hand is nice to have also. I really have no use for chronographs, moon phase, leap year, perpetual and annual calendars, just more money and more expensive to service and hard to set if the y ever stop. I've tried to not buy much over the last few years, kids can make that somewhat difficult, seems someone is always in need of something, cars, care repairs etc. hen I do look at watches they always seem to be of what I call the simple variety, DateJust, Submariner, both of which I have, I just tend to stay away from dials consider "busy" . Maybe failing vision plays a part in that as I can't see a busy dial very well anymore.. I don't need more than time and date anyway.
Simple can be beautiful...

I always like simple watch, sometimes just a watch that only tell time with hour and minute hand would do, not a fan of complications. [nt]

Useful and legible
Aesthetics and design are the key for me. Some perpetual calendars are an eye examination while others are intelligently laid out and can be read with ease.
Chronographs, perpetual calendars, tourbillons, minute repeaters are old, noble complicatinos which show the talent of their watchmakers. And I don't even mention the Grande Complication...
Which is the addition of a perpetual calendar, a tourbillon, a minute repeater and a chronograph ( split seconds ).
I admire all of them, I am more fan of some rather than others ( mad about minute repeaters and split seconds ), but when it comes to use, I am mad about alarms, chronographs, and Travel watches ( GMT and world time ).
Now, I am a big fan of hyper simple watches, which doesn't mean simplistic, such as a JLC Master Ultra Thin, 34 mm, or Jubilée 39 mm.

I love simple watches too but
I do admire the complicated pieces like a split second chronograph which might not be used much but it is a demonstration of the skills of the watchmaker. How can one not like a minute repeater for example which might not be so useful since the invention of electricity unless one has lost one's sight. It is like buying a very fast car but seldom would a supercar owner be seen utilising the full talents of his car. He owns the supercar because it provides a feel good factor and the same applies to the owners of complicated watches.

I'm all for complications
as long as the the time itself remains highly legible. Things like a Perpetual Calendar seem to be overkill when a triple date or annual will do, but if the best looking and most appealing watch to my eyes at the time happened to be a perpetual chronograph tourbillon with Sarpaneva Moonface, I wouldn't say no!

I realize you are asking for opinions and probably asking the wrong audience if you expect the majority to vote against complications, because this is a place where we enjoy not only form, but function.
Taking a bit further:
Powder (snow) can't be too fluffy and too thick - to a skiier.
Oceans can't be too deep to a diver (or a fish).
Cars can't go too fast (for some drivers).
Phones can't be too useful for many millenials.
Women can't be too beautiful (in my opinion).
Dogs can't be too obedient and loyal, to their owners.
These are relative scales and for you a watch CAN be too complicated. Why not?
Personally I have no opinion on snow, oceans or dogs, but I do care about cars, watches, oceans and women.

There is room for both in a collection.
My most recent purchases have been a hand-wound watch with sub-seconds and a 3-hands automatic with window date. I like the thinness and legibility of these. They complement other watches which are busier and thicker. If I had to choose one or the other, I’d prefer simplicity. I do like chronographs so that would be my complication of choice.
