But as usual, the narrative has changed due to colonialism and such. (Jesus was likely not blond either blue eyes)
In Arabic, text is read right to left.
And some clocks read “backwards”.

I always found that these numerals add an special and exotic charm to the dials so marked.
Regret to say I own only one example in my collection and it is a very humble one: a Seiko 5 which I bought just for the simple reason of its dial with these indexes.

Eastern Arabic numerals will forever have a place in my heart and remind me of the wonderful years I had the privilege to spend in the Arabic/Persian Gulf.
Bahrain removed these numerals from their license plates because they are a reference to the country’s colonial past as it was the British who introduced these numerals in the Gulf region.
Guess what the real Arabic numbers are… it’s those that we are all using on a daily basis

That’s not entirely accurate
Number plates with Eastern Arabic numerals are still legal for road cars produced pre 1990. However there is a $250 one time charge and are available upon request by the owner.

As far as colonial references go, this isn’t considered one.
Yes, that’s the exception of the general rule but you see these very rarely.
The colonial reference was mentioned to me by my Bahraini friends, with Bahrain having been a British protectorate until 1973.
