Please could any owners of the aforementioned watch post their experiences and photos. I am interested in the Aerodyn Duo and Date models, but know very little about the company, other than what I have read in their company literature.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
David
For a watch in that price range. In fact I daresay their dials are some of the nicest in that price bracket. I do not own a D&S, although a relation of mine does have the Aerodyn big date with a very attractive guilloche dial (I had a hand in the selection of the watch). I reckon the dial is actually engraved, and not stamped as is common.
The company does make some interesting complications, like the dual time zone, mostly based on ETA movements. However, they are notable for the regular use of uncommon vintage movements, thanks to the large collection accumulated by the owner, Cinette Robert - one of the few female brand owners in the industry. Admittedly those old ebauches are not particularly high-end, but their prices tend to be reasonable and the movements are interesting.
D&S also makes liberal use of decorative engraving in their movements; I find this quite awful. The engraving is usually clumsy and the resulting movement looks very garish. Then again, the movements do exhibit a good amount of effort, admirable given the cost of the watch.
